TRACY — October 26, 2026. Residents have an opportunity to help shape decisions about housing, streets, businesses and parks for the next two decades. The first public General Plan 2050 visioning workshop is scheduled Tuesday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Tracy Transit Station, Room 105, 50 East 6th Street.
What is a General Plan?
It is a long-term city planning document guiding land use, transportation, public spaces, services, public safety and other important development choices. Tracy says its existing comprehensive plan was last fully updated in 2006 and that population growth and local needs have changed since then.
The new planning process is scheduled in stages through 2029. Initial public engagement in 2026–27 will help identify priorities; planners then will study different growth alternatives before drafting policies, reviewing environmental impacts and bringing a final plan to future public hearings.
How to participate
The city lists the October 27 meeting as free. No guarantee of a specific approval or zoning change is made at this early visioning session, so this should not be mistaken for a meeting to approve an individual subdivision.
Residents can also provide information through later surveys, open houses and meetings. Tracy schedules a second public visioning workshop for November 19. The city lists its General Plan staff phone as 209-831-6464 and email GP2050@cityoftracy.org.
