TRACY, Calif. — Drivers using Interstate 205 in Tracy should expect changing overnight access to several on-ramps during the week of November 8–13, 2026. Caltrans District 10 announced on November 5 that crews plan guardrail work requiring alternating full on-ramp closures at Grant Line Road, Tracy Boulevard and MacArthur Drive.
What is closing, and when?
The traffic advisory lists eastbound I-205 ramp work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and westbound work from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., beginning Sunday, November 8 and continuing through Friday, November 13. The agency describes the closures as alternating, meaning drivers should not assume all three ramps will be closed at once or that their usual entrance will remain open on a particular night.
The work is to improve guardrails. Caltrans has not published in this advisory a fixed nightly schedule for every individual ramp, so commuters and overnight freight drivers should check the live roadway map instead of relying on assumptions about the order of closures.
How to plan a trip
Give yourself additional travel time, pay attention to marked detours and avoid making a last-minute unsafe merge when an on-ramp is blocked. Caltrans notes that weather, incidents, equipment availability and construction needs can change the schedule. The state advises motorists to check Caltrans QuickMap for current conditions.
Other nearby closures in the same official update include eastbound and westbound I-580 ramp work at Patterson Pass during the week and an upcoming 12-hour State Route 4 closure. They are separate projects with different locations and hours.
