TRACY, San Joaquin County — November 5, 2026. Tracy voters had several different decisions on their November 3 ballot: one citywide mayoral election and district-based City Council races. The county registrar’s latest accessible election-night returns show Dan Arriola ahead in the mayoral contest, while a separate District 1 council race is divided by just 49 votes.

Mayor: three candidates and different shares of the vote

The official San Joaquin election dashboard records Dan Arriola with 6,905 votes (51.91%), Mateo Bedolla with 5,378 (40.43%), and Uyiosa Felix Oviawe with 1,018 (7.65%). The counted votes for the three candidates total 13,301. Arriola’s reported edge over the second listed candidate is 1,527 votes in this snapshot. That lead does not equal a completed canvass or certification.

District 1: Sangha and Cole almost level

Among the local contests, Tracy City Council District 1 presents a notably smaller gap. Jass Sangha has 1,574 votes (50.79%) against Robin Cole’s 1,525 (49.21%) — a difference of 49 votes out of 3,099 counted selections. This is the same close race California58 described in the earlier District 1 lead-change report. Those numbers should not be described as a newly recorded lead change on November 5 without a fresh county report.

District 3: Evans leads a three-way council contest

In District 3, the county lists Dan Evans 1,729 (54.10%), Ametrius V. Sidney 825 (25.81%), and Ameni Alexander 642 (20.09%). A total of 3,196 valid candidate selections have been recorded. Council District 3 is not coterminous with District 1, and their vote totals must never be added to the mayoral vote as if the same question were being counted three times.

What happens after the first batch

California counties conduct a post-election canvass to handle additional valid mailed ballots, provisional votes, eligibility reviews, signature corrections and manual verification. San Joaquin has announced a public one-percent manual tally starting the week of November 9, with an anticipated audit completion November 25. Local candidates should not be described as certified winners solely because the first precinct reports have been uploaded.

Why city government results matter to families

The elected mayor and council members participate in decisions about municipal budgets, development proposals, streets, public safety and community services. Voters in different parts of Tracy elect different district council representatives. A story centered on the mayor should therefore link to, not replace, more precise district-level reporting.
